Privacy Policy — Zippy Partner

What the Zippy Partner app collects from fleet partners, car owners and drivers, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to get it deleted.

Last updated 12 August 2026

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to everyone on the supply side of Zippy: fleet partners who own cars and employ drivers, self-driven car owners, personal drivers (chauffeurs who drive a customer's own car), and drivers employed by a fleet partner. If you are a passenger booking a cab, the rider Privacy Policy applies to you instead.

Location — including in the background

  • We collect your device's precise location (GPS) while you are on duty as a driver.
  • Collection continues while the Zippy Partner app is in the background and while your screen is off. It stops when you go off duty or log out.
  • We use it to show dispatch where you are so nearby trips can be assigned to you, to let the customer on your current trip follow your arrival, and to measure the distance a trip actually covered so your earnings are calculated correctly.
  • Before Android asks for background-location permission, the app shows you an explanation and asks you to accept it. If you decline, you can still take trips — we then see your location only while the app is open on your screen. You can change this any time from Profile → Location sharing.
  • Fleet partners who do not drive are never asked for location permission and we do not collect their location.

Identity and compliance documents

To put you on the road legally we collect and store your name, mobile number, email address where you give one, your driving licence number and expiry, and — depending on your account type — your PAN, Aadhaar or Voter ID number. We store the document images you upload: driving licence, vehicle registration certificate, insurance, permit and any other paperwork we are required to verify.

Photographs

  • Odometer photographs at the start and end of a trip, used to verify the distance billed.
  • Photographs of the customer's car at handover, for personal-driver trips.
  • Your profile photograph, shown to the customer so they can recognise who is arriving.

Payment and bank details

We collect the bank account number, IFSC and account-holder name you give us so we can pay you, and your PAN where tax deduction applies. When you settle commission inside the app, the payment itself is processed by our payment gateway — we record that it succeeded and the reference, never your full card or UPI credentials.

Device and notification data

We store a push-notification token for each device you sign in on, along with the platform (Android or iOS) and when it was last seen, so trip alerts reach the phone you are actually holding rather than one you handed back. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other apps.

Additional details for personal drivers

If you sign up as a personal driver, the onboarding form additionally collects your date of birth, gender, languages spoken, home city, address and pincode, height and weight, driving-experience history, and the name and contact details of a personal reference. Customers hiring a driver see only your name, photograph, rating, languages and experience — never your address, reference or identity numbers.

How we use your information

To verify that you are eligible to drive, to assign and dispatch trips, to calculate fares and your earnings, to pay you and to collect commission, to let a customer contact and follow the driver on their trip, to send you trip and payment notifications, to investigate complaints and safety incidents, and to meet our tax and legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

  • The customer on your current trip — your name, mobile number, vehicle details, photograph and live location while the trip is running.
  • Zippy dispatch and operations staff, who can see your account, documents, trips and location in order to run the service.
  • If you are employed by a fleet partner, that partner — the fleet owner who created your profile can see your details, your trips and the earnings you generated for them.
  • Our payment gateway (Razorpay), SMS provider (MSG91) for OTP and trip messages, push-notification delivery (Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), and our document storage provider (Amazon S3). Each processes data on our instructions only.
  • Law enforcement and regulators, where we are legally required to disclose.

How long we keep it

  • Account and document data is kept while your account is open.
  • The detailed location trail recorded during a trip is deleted once that trip's distance has been calculated. Your last known position is overwritten by the next one and is not kept as a history.
  • Financial records — completed trips, invoices, commission entries and payouts — are retained for 8 years, as Indian book-keeping law requires. After an account deletion these are kept with your identity removed.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Profile → Delete account in the Zippy Partner app, or from zippy.cab/delete-account without signing in. We remove your personal information within 30 days and keep only the anonymised financial records described above. If you drive for a fleet partner, your driver profile was created by them and belongs to their account, so they remove it — see the deletion page for how to escalate to us if you cannot reach them.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw a permission you previously gave. Write to zippycab.services@gmail.com from the mobile number or email address on your account and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
